Qibla Finder is a free qibla direction tool and a set of plain-English guides for finding the qibla at home, on a trip or with no compass at all. The site is run by a small team and signed as the Qibla Finder team; no single author is named.
How the Qibla Finder Works
The tool uses your phone's location, a city you pick or coordinates you paste. It works out the shortest route over the Earth's surface to the Kaaba in Makkah (21.4225 N, 39.8262 E) and shows the starting direction in degrees from true north, the compass point in words and the distance. For people using a magnetic compass it also shows the magnetic declination at that place from NOAA's World Magnetic Model and the number to look for on the dial. The sums run on your device; your location is not sent to us.
Where the Guides Get Their Facts
Religious points are taken from the Quran with the translation named, from hadith collections with the number and grading, and from named fatwa bodies. Science points come from NOAA, Wikipedia, Britannica and university pages, and phone steps from Apple and Google help pages. Every repeated number on the site, such as a city's qibla bearing, comes from one shared fact sheet so two pages never disagree. The site does not issue religious rulings; for your own situation, ask a local imam you trust.
Independence
Qibla Finder is an independent site. It is not run by, endorsed by or connected to Google, Apple, any mosque or any government body, and it does not sell apps, compasses or prayer mats.
